VIDEO TOUR PROJECT

“Welcome to Our School!” – A Video Tour for New Students

You will create a fun and engaging school tour video designed specifically for incoming Grade 8 students who are excited (and maybe a bit nervous!) to join our Secondary school. Your video should be upbeat, positive, and easy for younger students to follow.

You will plan and film in groups, but each student must edit their own version using Adobe Premiere Pro. This ensures teamwork in production and individual creativity in editing.

PROJECT Requirements

1. Video Content

  • Length: Up to 90 seconds
  • Orientation: Landscape only
  • Format: 1080p
  • Editing Software: Premiere Pro (mandatory)
  • Final Export: .mp4

2. Content Requirements

Every final video must include:

A. Fun Introduction (5–10 seconds)

Example:

  • “Hey Grade 8s! Welcome to our school!”
  • “Here’s a quick tour to show you the awesome spaces here!”
B. Required Shot Types

(Same for all groups so editing is consistent. You will provide the shot list template.)

  1. Establishing shot (school exterior or main hallway)
  2. Classroom or learning space
  3. Student life area (gym, cafeteria, commons, field)
  4. Short interview clip with a teacher or student
  5. A highlight space (library, tech room, art room, etc.)
C. Fun Moment (optional but encouraged)

Choose one:

  • A creative transition
  • A slow-motion action moment
  • Something unique about your school
D. Audio & Storytelling
  • A short voiceover or narration
  • Optional upbeat background music (copyright-free only)
  • Clear audio on interview clips

3. Pre-Production Requirements

Before filming, each group must complete:

A. Script & Treatment Plan

You will complete your teacher-provided template, including:

  • Intro line
  • Locations and order
  • Who you plan to interview
  • What each person will say
  • Shot list with timing
B. Communication with Teachers (MANDATORY)

To book an interview or enter a classroom, you must:

  • Email the teacher you want to film
  • CC Mr. Remedios on the email
  • Communicate politely and professionally
  • Ask for a time window that works for them

If someone is not available on filming day:
– Your group must adjust your plan.
– The final video cannot be delayed because a teacher or student wasn’t available.
– Professional filmmakers adapt—so will you!

4. Filming Rules & Constraints

Allowed

  • Phones only
  • Landscape orientation
  • Clean, stable shots
  • 5–10 second clips
